Manitoba Museum Brand Experience

The Manitoba Museum is the province’s largest not-for-profit heritage and science centre. It is renowned for its vivid portrayal of Manitoba’s rich and colourful history, planetarium shows and science gallery exhibits. Realizing that it was not maximizing the opportunities on the Web, the museum engaged Relish in an ambitious overhaul of its website.

The result is a dynamic, modular, modern website using a content management system (CMS) that allows for easy updating. The site now sports a “visit planner” that helps visitors plan a museum itinerary based on responses to questions about their interests. A collections and research database allows visitors to browse (or search) more than 700 items from the human and natural history collections. Museum staff can easily add items as needed. Interactive maps and blogs on a variety of topics help to maintain patron relationships between visits to the physical museum. The overhaul also saw the integration of the fund development side of the museum with the rest of the site.

The museum is enjoying increased traffic to its website and visitors are staying longer to explore all this multi-faceted destination has to offer.
